A few months ago, the company Palosanto, manufacturers of Elastix, announced that the Elastix 5 telephony engine will be powered by 3CX, the leading developer of software-based PBX.
Initially, uncertainty was generated both for the entire community that works with Elastix, as well as for us 3CX Partners, since the consequences were not entirely clear.
It is worth mentioning that Elastix had more than 100,000 installations worldwide and tens of thousands of monthly downloads.
As the months went by, the situation became clearer. We are now in a position to analyze what is to come and clarify any doubts that may arise.
We believe just like the words of Edgar Landivar, CEO of Palosanto:
“Elastix users are the ones who benefit the most from this decision.”
This will undoubtedly be the case, 3CX is easy to use and has the necessary features for today's business environment. We must accept that Elastix had its advantages, but also its limitations.
“We are honoured to have 3CX power Elastix 5. Elastix is an already established PBX with a massive following – and to be chosen to power the next version of Elastix is a great recognition of the quality of our PBX and the great work done by our development team.”
Nick Galea, CEO of 3CX
“We were considering a change of telephony engine for some time. 3CX PBX is easy to use, open standards and feature rich. With the recent release of its Linux version, as well as the free PBX Edition, it is the perfect choice to power Elastix. The 3CX WebRTC video conferencing engine is particularly impressive.”
Edgar Landivar, CEO of Palosanto
FAQs
Can users continue using Elastix?
Yes, they can do so with version 4 and below, but these are no longer supported since the release of Elastix 5. Due to this recent development, any version prior to Elastix 5 is considered insecure and has limited features compared to its successor, Elastix 5.
