Aliaxis is the world's largest company in the industry of pipes and accessories for the conduction of water. Aliaxis is a multinational group, world leader in the manufacture and distribution of plastic fluid handling systems mainly for construction services, infrastructure, industries and public services. Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, it has a turnover of around 3 billion euros and more than 16,000 employees. Aliaxis owns several world-renowned brands in sanitary and pipe solutions such as Nicoll, Durman, Marley Pipe Systems, Sanit, Akatherm, Redi and Hunter. These products and solutions are applied and appreciated by real estate developers, engineers, architects, plumbers and distributors around the world.

Why did you choose Simpletech for your 3CX installation?

They needed a team with experience in complex projects that knew how to integrate their current solution into the new system in order to be able to migrate it progressively. They also needed to efficiently resolve the connection to the public telephone network in other countries. They also needed a company that could resolve the supply of equipment from multiple sites, coordinating the operation with the global purchasing department. On the other hand, they had already had a very successful experience installing 3CX with Simpletech in other countries in the region.

Challenges and solutions

CHALLENGE 1:

Aliaxis used a traditional telephone network and had a proprietary Avaya solution in its 11 subsidiaries in Latin America.

SOLUTION:

To optimize communications, the 3CX telephone system and SIP Trunk services were installed. The infrastructure was used to its full potential, allowing for reduced costs in management, supervision and maintenance of the system.

CHALLENGE 2:

Aliaxis, as a multinational company, has several branches in different countries. The communications system and engineering solution had to allow interconnection between branches, support the growth of the operation and offer unified communications for the entire corporation in Latin America.

SOLUTION:

As the company continued to expand, 3CX's IP Telephony solution enabled them to expand branches and users quickly and securely, at no extra cost.

CHALLENGE 3:

Aliaxis employees had a variety of different devices and applications to interact with, which made communications unproductive.

SOLUTION:

3CX has enabled unified communications for the entire company. All areas of the company benefit from having mobile interns, call center module, messaging and web video conferencing on a single platform. Now the Aliaxis team doesn't have to know where people are in order to contact them. They don't need to know if they are at their desk, at a machine, or if they need to call their cell phone. They now have a SINGLE point of contact for the caller.

CHALLENGE 4:

Offer high availability and resource optimization.

SOLUTION:

The deployed solution features automatic backup and failover capabilities. It includes an additional standby license for use on secondary equipment. This allows for built-in failover (high availability), meaning that it is not necessary to purchase 2 separate licenses to have the central replicated on a second machine.

CHALLENGE 5:

In each country, Aliaxis has large industries with a high number of internal employees. This posed a problem for the IT department, which, in addition to looking after the industrial equipment, also had to look after the telephony and its wiring.

SOLUTION:

We made it so that IT could forget about PBX administration, as 3CX requires ZERO administration and is very easy to use. Lines and extensions can also be added easily, and there is no additional charge or license fee. Being VOIP technology, the data and wireless network is sufficient, freeing you from telephone wiring.

CHALLENGE 6:

Aliaxis also uses Microsoft Teams as a complementary tool. But it was not possible to call outside the organization. In 2020, due to the pandemic, with the increase in remote workers, it was essential to be able to connect this application to the PSTN.

SOLUTION:

We integrate Microsoft Teams with 3CX securely and reliably, through the convenience of a Session Border Controller (SBC) which is a completely software-based solution.

Installation process

The installation process required fluid communication and support from Aliaxis' IT department in each country, which followed Simpletech's instructions step by step to collaborate with the correct development of the project.
