The project was carried out in conjunction with ID R&D, who chose Simpletech as their partner to undertake this challenging project. ID R&D is an award-winning provider of AI-based facial and voice biometrics and liveness detection. The alliance with ID R&D allowed us to implement the world's first biometric voice authentication within the API of WhatsApp for Business. The solution integrates our conversational tool Wittybots, with ID R&D's voice recognition and anti-spoofing system.
WHATSAPP: CHAT SECURITY
WhatsApp is the most widely used conversational channel in the region, as well as in much of the world. It is a great tool that allows companies focused on B2C to improve their experiences. It is practical and agile, but its lack of security guarantees when transmitting sensitive information has put economic transactions in question.
WHAT IS INNOVATION?
We have developed the first two-factor authentication for WhatsApp, which solves this security problem. It takes just 20 seconds to register a phrase, which will act as a voice password, directly within WhatsApp. To do so, the user simply presses the microphone icon to record an audio and then sends a short voice message to generate the authentication. This can be used any time the user needs to verify their identity.
The voice is a unique security guarantee, thanks to the 72 body parts involved in creating an impression. In this integration, the voice is instantly matched with the saved record and its authenticity is verified to protect it from falsification, using complex identification algorithms.
The voice biometrics allows for the implementation of low-friction Two Factor Authentication. There is no need to incorporate easy-to-forget passwords, PINs or other types of authentication that create frustrating processes for the user and that also tend to be easily breached.
Today, companies can go one step further when implementing the WhatsApp channel to communicate with their customers. Authorizing payments and transferring sensitive information in a safe and efficient manner is a reality thanks to this innovation.
