It is not common for this to happen, but WhatsApp may block your account. This means that you will be unable to use their services either temporarily or permanently. If this is your current case or you are simply interested in having the information at hand in case it happens to you, here you will find How to activate a suspended account on WhatsApp.
It is known that Meta is very strict with its usage policies, so violating them can result in fairly aggressive penalties for the user. But don't panic! They can be resolved and services restored, you just need to pay more attention next time.
But before we dive into the solutions to a suspended WhatsApp account, it is important to know the reasons why this can happen. And there are eight that are the most common.
1. Being reported and blocked by too many users
It's common for users to block each other on WhatsApp. However, if a large number of people block your account, this could raise suspicions and result in your phone number being suspended on WhatsApp.
2: Mass messages to numbers that do not have you among their contacts
WhatsApp blocks unwanted messages to protect the user experience and quality of service. Sending too many messages to people who are not in your contact list can have two outcomes: first, you will be warned and second, if you do not respect the warnings, you will be blocked.
At Simpletech we work every day generating massive message campaigns with our WittyBots tools and WittyAgent and we know How to send them without being penalized. In this way, we take care of your reputation, your business and your money. A preview? If you want to do it right, you must take two things into account: first, have an official business account with access to the WhatsApp API and second, the content must provide real value to the customer.
3: Sending suspicious files or viruses
WhatsApp has a strict policy against sending malware or viruses. Suspicious files are automatically scanned and if found to pose a threat, the sender's account may be blocked for everyone's safety.
4: Join many groups in a short time
Participating in WhatsApp groups is super normal. In fact, since the remote work boom, everyone has more WhatsApp groups than they would like, but joining too many groups can quickly make WhatsApp think you are a bot and block your account.
5: Impersonating another user or using a fake account
WhatsApp does not allow users to create accounts using the information of a person other than themselves. If someone notices this and reports it, WhatsApp may decide to block the account for security reasons.
6: Using a pirated version of the app
Many Android users download modified versions of WhatsApp, such as “WhatsApp Plus” or “GB WhatsApp.” The catch is that these versions often have more advanced and tempting features for users, such as downloading images in the original resolution, sending very large files, and changing the appearance and color of chats. The problem is that these versions have not yet been officially approved by WhatsApp, so if it detects their use, there is a chance that it will block the account.
7: Obtaining data from third parties without consent
WhatsApp takes privacy and security of each user's information to heart. Therefore, if it discovers that you have extracted data such as phone numbers, avatars or updates, your account is at risk.
8: Violation of the terms of service
It is advisable to read WhatsApp's terms and conditions carefully before using it to ensure that you do not violate the community policies. As mentioned, Meta is very strict with its policies and at the slightest evidence of non-compliance, yes, it will suspend your account.
But this can happen not only with regular WhatsApp, no company is exempt from being blocked or suspended by WhatsApp Business. Therefore, it is important that brands and companies comply with the terms and conditions to ensure that there will be no problems. The reasons for the suspension are basically the same.
If you are not sure what steps to follow to keep your account always protected and safe, at Simpletech we know How to keep your WhatsApp Business healthy so that both your service and the one you offer are excellent.
Types of suspension
Temporary suspension
Temporary suspensions are a warning from Meta to the user that they are engaging in activities that violate the rules. You will know that the account has been temporarily blocked because you will see a timer with the duration of the application suspension, which is usually 24 to 48 hours.
Permanent suspension
Permanent suspension means that you will no longer be able to use WhatsApp Business as your number will be permanently blocked. The offense must be very serious. For example, if you have sold illegal content or violated the terms of service, your WhatsApp account will be permanently suspended.
How to recover a suspended WhatsApp account?
If the suspension is temporary, you will only have to wait for the suspension time to end. That is, for the clock to reach zero so that your service is restored.
Permanent suspensions are another matter, as they often cannot be recovered. However, if you believe you have not violated any such serious rules or consider it a misunderstanding, you can contact the company's technical support directly and explain your situation to try to get your account reactivated. After you make your request, WhatsApp has up to 48 hours to review the request and make its decision.
The best advice to avoid having to go through this is to be well informed about everything that can and cannot be done. After all, it is a service and, like any service, it has rules that must be respected for it to function properly.
